A number of social trends and disruptive events - such as digital transformation, corona pandemic and geopolitical conflicts - make us look differently at how and why we work internationally in the cultural sector. There is a need for greater visibility for the sector and sustainable working models for the future. A field study on international cultural policy gave us insights to meet those challenges. On May 15th, together with IDEA Consult, we would like to present them to you.

Working internationally in the cultural sector is a natural and necessary thing for many, because of the artistic and cultural, social and economic benefits involved. At the same time, the way we operate internationally today is under increasing pressure. In a global playing field, competition for resources and attention is increasing.

On the one hand, being visible in a highly competitive landscape is a matter of survival. On the other hand, there is a great need to experiment with new, and more sustainable working models, in the context of rising costs, unfair working conditions, climate challenge and geopolitical conflicts.

How do we look at internationalisation in the cultural sector today? How do we work on more sustainable working models for the future, for policy and practice? In a webinar, Joris Janssens and Inez Boogaarts of IDEA Consult present the field study and explain the main insights.
